My Resource Library (MRL) is a virtual library and visualization tool for interior designers featuring a wide range of furniture, textiles, lighting, fixtures, and more. Products are searchable by type and browsable by manufacturer. With MRL, users can also view Inspiration Galleries, which offer full room layouts. MRL also allows users to collect and save products and materials within Project Binders, while at the same time, to integrate their own floor plans, drawings, and visual content into their projects. Users are able to create an unlimited number of Project Binders on MRL, which can be shared with other MRL users. While NYSID Library still maintains a materials library on both campuses, this resource, in keeping with industry trends, replaces our hard-copy binders on the shelves by providing users with online and convenient access to a robust collection of the most current materials and products for their design projects. |
My Resource Library can be accessed at the following URL: myresourcelibrary.com.
First time users who are NYSID registered students, faculty, and staff will be able to log in to their accounts using their NYSID email address. For the initial password for your MRL account, please email us.
MRL provides a short video on how to then change passwords after the first log-in.
Please note that only your nysid.edu email should be used with your account in order to ensure continued access.
If you have any issues accessing MRL or any of its resources, please contact a librarian.
In the MRL Library collections, users will have access to a myriad of products with product specifications and current pricing information. These can be browsed by manufacturer, as seen in the sample books below.
As shown below, users also have the option to limit manufacturers by their product types (Contract, Hospitality, Textiles, or Lighting), and/or filter search results by the following criteria: CET, GSA, ProjectMatrix, and Quick Ship. (For best results, NYSID Library recommends using the search bar on the side to search through the entire New York School of Interior Design collection. This will give you the highest number of relevant results.)
If you are looking for ideas, check out MRL's Hub! Here, there are numerous Inspiration Galleries, covering a variety of spaces, such as retail, offices, waiting rooms, classrooms, libraries, and chapels. In addition to these Inspiration Galleries, the Hub holds Manufacturer Galleries, which allow users to read basic information about manufacturers and view their materials and products.
For more information on the Hub, check out My Resource Library's Help video!
One of the most exciting features of MRL is "My Projects." Here, users are able to create Projects (a.k.a. Project Binders) using resources found on MRL as well as any uploaded content.
Within your project, you can create "sections" to further organize the products you have chosen.
Within the sections, you are able to see all of the products and their manufacturers. Clicking on the product will allow you to view the product in more detail.
In this example, we have opened the Lounge Seating section of our NYSID Library Project.
For more information on using The Hub, check out MRL's Help videos.
My Resource Library offers a collection of videos in their Help section, showing users how to access, create, and best use the Project Binders. Click here to find the videos.
MRL's "My Projects" feature offers easy integration with leading industry design software such as Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, CET Designer, and ProjectMatrix.
MRL's participating manufacturers are increasingly providing Revit and DWG files; (check your chosen product's Collateral section) for easy importing/integration into your design projects.
Not only are you able to use MRL's "My Projects" feature to collect images and files from within the online library, you are also able to upload your own floor plans, drawings, and visual content into your projects on MRL!
