You can search for books in BobCat, the NYSID Library catalog. You can also search for books that might be in the consortium libraries (NYU Bobst, Cooper Union, or New School).
When searching for plans add the word as a search term. One search might be constructed like this:

You can also use the terms Drawing, Elevations, and Sections to find architectural plans. If you are googling, it's a great idea to use these terms too.
Make sure to also search by the architect's name to see if the house is included in a book or set of books. The table of contents or index of the book can help you determine if there's information there for you.
