Contract Design I--Office & Restaurant: Basic Information

Course Description

While providing an overview of the contract field, this course emphasizes the elements used by the designer in the development of nonresidential interior spaces. Both conceptual and practical issues are explored relative to site selection, programming, space planning, circulation, volume, furnishings, color, and texture in the synthesis of interior space.

The first project is the design of a modest size corporate or commercial interior such as the offices of a non-profit organization or other business, involving a space of approximately 5000 square feet, located in a typical modern high-rise.

The final project will be a two-level restaurant design focusing on issues of hospitality design such as image, graphic identity, display, and the volumetric development of an interiors concept.
