How to Embed LibGuide Content into Canvas: Home

You can embed content from the online library guides (i.e., LibGuides) created by the NYSID librarians into Canvas by using the following procedures:

1. On the "Modules" page of your Canvas course, click on the "+" icon in the section where you want to embed the content from the LibGuide.

3. On the "Add Item to" pop-up screen, select "External Tool" from the "Add" drop-down menu.

5. Scroll down the list, select "LibApps Library Content" from the menu.

7. On the "Link Resource from External Tool" screen, select "libguides.nysid.edu" under the "LibGuides Site" drop-down menu.

9. And then, follow the instructions to embed a "Full LibGuide," a "Single Page," or simply a "Content Box" under the "Content Type" drop-down menu.

11. Under the "Guide" drop-down menu, select the LibGuide from which you want to embed the content.

13. If you have selected embedding a full LibGuide into your Canvas course, you have an option to select a landing page within your selected LibGuide under the "Guide Page" drop-down menu. The options vary depending on your selection of the "Content Type", i.e., "Full Guide," "Single Page," or "Content Box."

15. After finalizing your selections/options, remember to click on the blue "Embed Content" button at the bottom of the screen.

17. Finally, click on the "Add Item" button at the bottom of the "Add Item" screen.

19. A direct link to the content of the selected LibGuide should appear under the selected section of your Canvas course.

21. When clicking on the link, the content of your selected LibGuide will appear within your Canvas course.
