Color for Interiors: NYSID Archives & Special Collections

Color in the NYSID Archives & Special Collections

In addition to library resources like books and articles, students can gain an historical understanding of color in interior design from primary sources like hand-painted renderings, which can be found across many archival collections at NYSID. Hand-painted renderings of interiors, as well as textiles, not only communicate the aesthetics of the time and/or designer, but provide evidence of the techniques and skills common to the discipline of interior design until recent history. This page features a number of renderings from different archival collections at NYSID. Students and faculty are encouraged to contact the archivist to identify additional examples.
