Modern Architecture & Design II: Books and eBooks

Searching for Books in the Library

You can search for books in Bobcat, the NYSID Library catalog. Since NYSID is part of a library consortium, you will also be able to search for books that might be at NYU, Cooper Union or the New School.

An example search and results list obtained when simply searching for "Modern Design" is below.  When looking at the results, Available means the book is on the shelf, Check Availability may already be checked out.  Make sure you're looking at the item that says "New York School of Interior Design Library".  The Call No. for the book is located within the parenthesis.

Searching for eBooks

The NYSID Library has two collections of eBooks:

  • EBook Central: a collection of eBooks curated by the NYSID Librarians which includes many of your required textbooks.
  • EBSCO eBook Collection: a subscription based service which contains over 100,000 eBooks on a variety of subjects, including the arts, humanities, and the sciences.

For a detailed tutorial on how to perform basic and advance searches in these and other eBooks databases, check out Module 4: Finding and Using EBooks, available on Canvas within the course: Fundamentals of Library and Information Literacy.
