The first place to start is the NYSID library home page; the search box is on the left side of the page:
For this multi-faceted topic you will need a wide range of resources, and including all the consortium libraries in your search will dramatically broaden your results. Enter a search term in the box above. When it takes you to the Bobcat catalog, you will see a dropdown menu where you can change your search criteria from "NYSID" to "All Collections."
Bobcat is the union catalog of the libraries of NYSID, NYU, the New School (including the former Gimbel Library at Parsons), and Cooper Union. NYSID students and faculty may borrow books and use their print and electronic collections in the consortium libraries. Consult "Other Area Libraries" guide for user access policies and privileges.
Using the terms you discovered in your NYSID Books search, search Bobcat for additional books and materials in the consortium libraries. When in BobCat, consider that:
You can check books out from each of these libraries with your NYSID ID. When searching in BobCat, make sure to look to the left-hand side of the search results to filter books by location.
***Remember that books for all lending institutions can be returned to NYSID Library.
Under the "Ebooks" tab in the same search box on NYSID library's home page, you can access our extensive Ebook Central e-textbook holdings, and e-books from other vendors such as EBSCO. Some of these books are not in print, and only exist digitally.
These books are full-text searchable, printable, and often downloadable in different formats, and each platform offers citation generators and other useful tools. You can create a personal folder and save ebooks there for future reading. To access many of these options, before you start your first search log in to the NYSID portal with your username and password, then click through using the NYSID library link on the left, and then create a personal account directly in the database.
