You will want to search for articles on both healthcare design as well as articles that cover the healthcare issues and related topics that your design is meant to address. For example, if you are designing an autism education facility, you should look for relevant case studies on those facilities as well as for current research about Autism Spectrum Disorder, autism education best practices, and the needs of autism educators (learning tools, for instance). Think about how your facility will be used, and by whom.
EBSCO and Gale are excellent databases to research various medical conditions and healthcare best practices. PubMed is also a great (free) resource. You cannot access many full-text articles on PubMed, but you can get article citations that you will be able to look up in Ebsco, Gale, or other databases.
