NYSID Library Online Research Guides

Did you know? The NYSID Library staff creates various online Research Guides, also known as “LibGuides,” to support the curriculum at NYSID.

Many of our Guides are course-specific, such as those for Contract and Residential Design I, II, III and Design Process, which highlight resources and research processes pertaining to course syllabi and course assignments.

The Library also produces general and topical Research Guides covering topics such as MLA citation format, thesis preparation, and information about NYC libraries.

Benefits of Creating and Using a Research Guide:

  • Organizes core and relevant print and online resources.
  • Information and resources are chunked and presented in a linear and intuitive fashion.
  • Builds confidence in the research process.
  • Meets the needs of students with diverse learning styles.
  • Can be accessed online 24/7.
  • Allows students to focus on the relevant and sift out the less relevant.
  • Printable, i.e., can be used as handouts.
  • Easy to update as needed.

The Library is always happy to collaborate with faculty on the creation of new Research Guide content and the revision of existing Guides. A time window of at least 2 weeks is generally recommended, with additional time needed for new content. Please feel free to contact a librarian if you have any questions.

To view our existing Research Guides, see the NYSID Library Homepage.
